WB Ladies Ruritan Club meets

NORTH GEORGETOWN – The West Branch Area Ladies Ruritan Club met May 15 at the Brethren Church in North Georgetown.

Lori Jewell from the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce served as guest speaker. She graduated from United High School and attended Malone College. She worked as a paralegal with a firm in Canton for 19 years. When she saw a position open up at the chamber she took the job in 2017. She has been the executive director the past five years. The goal of the chamber is to bring businesses to the city. The chamber sponsors community events such as concerts in the park, the Christmas parade, the July Fourth fireworks, clean up day, Quakertown Kids 5K race and flower planters with the businesses doing the planting. New this year is a Holiday Adopt-A-Planter. Jewell handed out fliers about the events.

The next meeting will be a picnic June 19. Scholarship winners and their families will be the guests.
